Dale and Patterson

(Reprinted from The Elmer Journal, 1909)

Hemmit Dale and J.E. Patterson two first class business men, two brothers-in-law, two directors in the Bank and two all around whole souled fellows who are hail fellows properly met 365 days in the year and yours for straight business. These gentlemen own a large stock of general merchandise and enjoy an enormous trade of many miles extent. They buy right and sell close, both good collectors and the ends meet, both good stock men and the store has no goods shuffled back..  When things need clearing they are moved out and new goods moved in.  That’s their way, and it’s the only way.

Two as pleasant gentlemen as you will meet in a day’s ride and never forget a friend, two Christian gentlemen although of different faith, but that doesn’t bother because they are level headed.  Two Odd Fellows, hence should be as Jonnathian and David.  They know the lessons of the good Sabaritan and practice its precepts.

At some time in their lives they might have fallen among thieves and been roughly handled, but if they did, it was a life’s lesson to them and we will guarantee that they are the better for it.  Two men are emphatically for the bigger and better Elmer and vote their sentiments every time and usually get value received for the effort made by realizing that if anything is worth doing, it’s worth doing well.  Such in the short sketch of these men to swell the lists of Elmer’s big hearted, free fisted business men. .
